SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A police standoff with the motive force of a reportedly stolen truck snarled Thursday morning rush hour visitors in Orange County after an hours-long pursuit by Southern California.
The driver of the large rig lastly gave up after a police SWAT group surrounded the truck on State Route 55 in Santa Ana, north of Interstate 405.
“We’re grateful that he did come out peacefully and he is being taken into custody proper now,” California Highway Patrol Officer Florentino Olivero instructed KTLA.
The pursuit started after 8 p.m. Wednesday and went on for hours till spike strips blew out among the truck’s tires, ultimately bringing it to a cease.
