BERLIN (AP) — Germany mentioned Wednesday that China has rejected a deliberate stopover of a German warship in a Chinese port.
The frigate left Germany final month for a tour of the Indo-Pacific area as a part of the German authorities’s effort to extend its actions there.
“After some consideration, China has determined that it doesn’t desire a port go to from the German frigate Bayern,” mentioned Maria Adebahr, a German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman. “We have taken notice of that.”
Part of Germany’s not too long ago introduced new Indo-Pacific technique contains an emphasis on free passage for ships, significantly via the Strait of Malacca that links the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean.
